Applications Accepted for HEAP

(Heat Energy Assistance Program)

HEAP, Heat Energy Assistance Program, is a federally funded program designed to assist income eligible households to meet the costs of home energy. It can assist you with your oil, coal, electric, and/or wood bills. Even if your heat is included in your rent, HEAP may be available to you.

Tioga Opportunities, Inc. is currently accepting applications for Tioga County residents who are income eligible, and do not receive public assistance of food stamps. Applications can be picked up and completed at the Countryside Community Center, 9 Sheldon Guile Boulevard in Owego. The hours are from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Anyone receiving Food Stamps or Public Assistance must apply at the Tioga County Department of Social Services.

In addition to the application, the following documentation requirements must be provided:

ID for everyone in the household (birth certificates, driver's license, or Social Security card)

Tax bill, lease agreement, or rent receipt with your name, address, and date

Recent fuel bill with your name, address, and date

All household income for the past four consecutive weeks.
