Town of Owego

The sewer project in the Tobey Road and Deborah Lee Dr. has been approved. The amount of $739,600 was borrowed for the sewer line and installation.

A raise in the town clerk's salary from $27,275 to $30,500 was approved by the board.

The town budget of $5.89 million was approved with an increase of 3.6% town wide.

The Evanco property in Crestview was approved for an auto repair and body work shop, pending an environmental review called for by the applicant.

Village of Owego

"Made in Tioga" opened in the old Bern Furniture Store on Lake Street in Owego. It features vendors from throughout the county. Hours are 5:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday, 10:00 am - 8:00 pm Saturday, and 11:00 am - 5:00 pm Sunday.

An agreement between the village and the town has been reached to temporarily use the town hall to hold court until their space problem can be worked out.

Tioga County

If adopted, the county budget should reflect .1% increase in the general fund expenditures. There is a slight decrease in the tax levy of $121,101.

County Tourism director Doyle Gibbs held public hearing information sessions explaining the recent efforts to upgrade the Susquehanna River to increase tourism. Ideas on what directions the department should take were discussed.

The legislature approved a mission statement listing strategies to help local farmers. If successful, it would help stop the recent trends of farmers having to shut down operations.

Other things!

Could it be Congress will have the courage to vote Articles of Impeachment? It would be encouraging to see politicians vote for the rule of law instead of what a disengaged public says in rigged polls.
