Conservatives, Blacks, and Hispanics all Rowing the Same Boat!

By Donald Castellucci, Jr.

As the year ends and we reflect on this year's elections, there isn't much to be thankful for if you're a Republican. I can see an historic opportunity slipping through the last fingers just hanging on. It is obvious we have a disengaged public only concerned about how much money they're making and not about the critical events before them. While I do not believe the polls, I do believe most people do not understand the gravity of the impeachment procedures.

It is now an acceptable practice to lie under oath based on the situation. If you are a CEO, school teacher, engineer, or street sweeper and you lie under oath about sex, guess what?!! You are going to jail. As a matter of fact, if you lie about anything under oath you are probably going to jail. If you are the President of the United States that is another story. You can discharge people from the military for the same acts the President has committed. You can be Bob Packward, a Republican Senator from Oregon, and be expelled from Congress. Hell, you can be Clarence Thomas with no evidence against you and have your reputation tarnished forever. Of course, if you're a Kennedy you also get a free ride. This issue is not political. Just ask the National Organization of Women. Their view on each of the situations has been perfectly "non partisan!"

So why is this all happening? Just ask Newt Gingrich. While in previous columns I have defended him to the hilt, you will see that no more. I still believe it was unacceptable the way the media and the Democrats constantly hounded him with unsubstantiated charges. (Sound familiar?) I will always defend him on those counts. His problem lies in how he courted Conservatives and left them hanging on legislative cliffs. While he points out his legislation on tax cuts and such, he and most moderates, don't understand. You have to have the social reforms with them. All the money in the world never solved problems. This is not any different.

The leadership based its plan on impeachment fallout and offered nothing to the grassroots of the party. What happened? The "angry white males" stayed away from the polls and so went an historic chance to correct a situation that will now be looked at as a Republican witch hunt.

Newt Gingrich is considered a "visionary." Unfortunately while he is visualizing what he perceives the future to be, he constantly took the heart of the Republican Party for a ride - the Conservatives. He left them in a boat just as George Bush did. What did it cost them?

The same could be said on the other side of the isle. There is a lot of talk about a party helping minorities. They traditionally do not vote in off year (nonpresidential) elections. If the Democratic Party truly cared about these constituencies, they would end government programs that continually keep them suppressed. I would like to see someone come up with and idea in the Democratic Party that didn't enhance people to rely on government. I would love to see the Democratic Party finally realize that all people, given the opportunity guaranteed them by the Constitution, could make it on their own without the government. There is no shot of that happening though as long as charlatans keep dividing this culture race by race.

This last election was not any different. Bill Clinton couldn't show his face in public and knew all was bleak. The master politician came up with the strategy he needed. Go to the minority community and get them to vote. Convince them if he is thrown out of office America as they know it is over. Sadly it worked, especially in New York where we lost Senator D'Amato. The sad part is the minorities are in the same boat as Conservatives. Being used by their political affiliation. All of them are used by the "enlightened" moderates and Liberals. Meanwhile, race wars continue, taxes go up, education deteriorates and the country we once knew is dieing a slow death. Yes, the office of the President will survive this "constitutional crisis." The question is, will the country survive while its base constituencies are up the proverbial "creek without a paddle?"
