Walking Tour - Murders

October 10, Saturday, 11am

Museum Director, Joann Lindstrom leads a walk past places involved in murders during the 1800s. Cost is $5 for non-members, $2.50 for members.

Lecture on Historic Gardening

October 28, Wednesday, 7pm

The Tioga County Historical Society is pleased to host the annual lecture of the Owego Historic Preservation Commission (OHPC). Each year in October, the OHPC presents programming related to topics in home preservation and restoration. The lecture is free and open to everyone. Contact the Museum staff for more details.







Walking Tour - Evergreen Cemetery

October 31, Saturday, 11am

The cemetery is a historical site, and the burial place of many noted men and women such as "Boss" Thomas Platt, composer Philip Paul Bliss Jr., and many of the founders of Owego. The tour will begin at Evergreen Cemetery. Tickets are required, and are $5 for non-members and $2.50 for members.

• Arts - decorative, fine and folk arts found in the museum auditorium top floor.

• Daily Life and Local Industry - tools and products from the 19th century in the museum first floor.

Researching at the Tioga County Historical Society

The society's genealogical library contains over 300,000 index cards of surnames including information from census records, newspaper accounts, family Bible information (they have 1,000 family folders), and excerpts from local history books. They are often told that their library is the most user-friendly in the region. Members of the society research free! Non-members must pay $5.00 per day.
