Opening Information Fall Semester 1998

The most exciting day in the school year is quickly approaching. Apalachin Elementary School will open its doors for the 1998-99 school year for students on Wednesday, September 9th, with a full day. This year, we anticipate about 530 students on the first day. Due to enrollment changes this summer, some teaching assignments were changed. Grade level assignments for the 1998-99 school year are as follows:

Kindergarten- Miss Guilfoyle, Mrs. Lanning, Mrs. Pritchard, Miss Watson First Grade- Mrs. Jablonowski, Mrs. DeLapm Mrs. Pichette

Second Grade- Mrs. Coyle, Mrs. Hamed, Mrs. Hettinger/Mrs. Monroe, Mrs. LaCombe

Third Grade- Mrs. Smyth, Mrs. DeFeo, Mrs. Ripic, Mrs. Zur

Fourth Grade- Mrs. Ellis, Mr. Lewis, Mrs. Seward, Mrs. Zalepa

Fifth Grade- Mr. Knapik, Mr. Brougham, Mrs. Paquette, Mr. Pritchard, Mrs. Smith

Two dates to note are September 18, which will be an early dismissal (12:45) day for staff development and October 1, which will be Meet the Teacher Night.

Breakfast and lunch will again be available each day. Breakfast price is $.85 for students and lunch price is $1.35 for students. Lunch tickets are available...l0 for $13.00 and 20 for $25.00. The price of milk this year is $.35. Prices for adults are al a cart. The lunch menu for the first three days of school is as follows:

Wednesday: Hotdog; Thursday: Chicken Nuggets; Friday: Pan Pizza.

During the first two weeks of school, we ask parents to have students ready for the bus a few minutes early and to anticipate some delays at the end of the day. Once we "get the bugs out," the schedule should be consistent.

PARENTS: Please be aware, that your child will not be released to anyone other than those listed on our registration, unless we are notified by a note or phone call. All families need to be sure that the child's registration is accurate.
