Faith Christian Fellowship Hosts Ice Cream Social

Ice cream connoisseurs had their fill at Faith Christian Fellowship's ice cream social held recently at 27 Beach Road in Apalachin. Gooey hot fudge, caramel, peanut butter and strawberry toppings with sprinkles, nuts, and whipped cream accompanied Pat Mitchell's homemade ice cream.

Participants sat outside on the seasonably warm evening clapping and tapping their toes to the folk music of Cobblestone Junction. Entertaining the folks with their unique brand of zany humor, the group's four members are Darrell Douglas and his wife Janet Varley of Binghamton, Greg Jenkins of Conklin, and Brian Schendel from Tioga Center. They sang a variety of numbers including "The Unicorn Song" and "Grandma's Featherbed," in which they enlisted the help of Cindy Moore from the audience to play the washboard.

Later in the evening church music leader, Gary Chaffee, accompanied by Stacy Jackson and Cindy sang a few pop tunes from the '70s.

Cindy's Apalachin Home Fellowship, a sub-group of the church, which meets in Tioga Terrace, coordinated the event. Administrative Pastor Karen Mead and Secretary Sandie Hilton helped with advertising and gathering supplies. Door prizes of two stuffed rabbits dressed in straw hats and gingham, handmade by Ad. Pastor Mead, were given away in a drawing.

The church plans to have more events like this in the future.
