Iron Kettle Farm

Receives Agri-Tourism Award

Iron Kettle Farm of Candor received the first ever New York State Agri-Tourism Award at the 1998 Governor's Tourism Conference held April 27-28. The awards ceremony and dinner were held Tuesday evening at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center to recognize and award outstanding achievement in promoting tourism in various areas.

Skip and Jeannie Jackson were in attendance to receive the award for excellence in growth and development of their attraction from their unique pumpkin displays to their farmer's market. Iron Kettle Farm was nominated by the Tioga County Tourism Office because they fulfilled the criteria of a program that promoted agricultural tourism, coordinated their efforts with the overall tourism program in the county, was creative, provided quality promotional materials, and produced successful results.

Governor George Pataki made the final selection from several statewide candidates for the award, which was then presented by leaders of the Empire State Development Division of Tourism. The Governor's Conference is an annual event that brings together tourism professionals from across the state in an exchange of ideas and thoughts on the expanding New York State Tourism industry.
