Hiawatha Island and Susquehanna River Tours

June - September

Waterman is taking reservations for island and river tours which run through September. Explore the cultural, historical, and ecological aspects of this wildlife refuge. Contact the center for details on the scheduled tours, or for a special group tour.

Apalachin Firemen's Field Days

Preschoolers (three- and four-year-olds) and their parents are invited to join Naturalist Eileen Shatara for a fun-filled exploration of nature. Pre-registration is required. Members $12, non-members $16.

Vestal Street Fair

June 6, Saturday, 10am-4pm

Join the center as it helps Vestal celebrate their 175th anniversary.

Waterman Discovery Hikes

June 6, 13, 20, 27; Saturdays, 2 pm

Naturalist Douglas Weeks will lead a tour of discovery along the trails. Members free, non-members, $2.

4th Annual Waterman Golf Tournament

June 12, Friday, 1:30 pm

Links at Hiawatha Island, Apalachin

Join Waterman Center at the Links at Hiawatha Island for this fund raising, shotgun golf tournament. The $75 per person fee includes greens fees, a cart, prizes and dinner. Non-golfers are invited to attend the dinner.

Father's Day Picnic on Hiawatha Island

June 21, Sunday, 9am (Father's Day)

Hiawatha Island, Owego, NY

A traditional breakfast on historic Hiawatha Island and a leisurely guided tour of the island. Registration required. Members $7.50, non-members $10. Fathers attending with their families are half price. Call the center for times.

Waterman Volunteer Meeting

Each month the volunteers meet to discuss the various programs and events being offered.

Summer Day Camp

June 30-September 4

For more information on the weekly themes and registration information forms, contact the center. Waterman is looking for Counselors in Training (CIT) for the summer. CITs must be at least 14 years old. Camp scholarships are available for low income families.

Walk through Time on Hiawatha Island

August 7, 8, & 9; Fri, Sat, & Sun; 10am

Hiawatha Island, Owego

Travel through time on historic Hiawatha Island. Costumed interpreters will be on hand to demonstrate their crafts, skills, and to share a few stories. Call for times and reservations.
