St. Ann Statue Dedicated
Father William
Langan and the parishioners of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Little
Meadows, Pennsylvania, last month dedicated a statue of St. Ann which was
donated to their church. The statue, which depicts St. Ann with her daughter
Mary, was given to the church by Vivian Silvestri of Endicott in memory
of her husband Fred and son Mark. The Silvestris frequently attended Mass
at St. Thomas Church when they visited their cottage at a lake in Little
Meadows.
The statue, which is over 100 years old, was previously owned by the District Office of the Fraternity of St. Peter at Elmherst, Pennsylvania. Vivian Silvestri paid for the statue and the restoration work which was done by Robert Ritter Beck of Gouldsboro, Pennsylvania, who specializes in statue and painting restoration.
St. Ann, mother of Mary and the grandmother of Jesus, is the patron saint of grandmothers.
