Little People/Big People

Preschoolers (three- and four-year-olds) and their parents are invited to join Naturalist Eileen Shatara for a fun-filled exploration of nature. Preregistration is required. Members $12, non-members $16.
4th Annual Plant & Flower Festival
May 16-17, Saturday and Sunday
9am-4pm
Visit Waterman Center for the spring plant sale. Perennials, annuals, and wildflower seeds are available. The wildflower gardens, hiking trails, and museum are open free to the public. Wildflower hikes are scheduled for 10am and 2pm. The hikes are free for Waterman members and $2 for non-members.
Bike-Walk Broome/Tioga Counties
May 23, Saturday, 11am
Waterman Center hosts a river and island tour. Participants will meet at the Waterman Center boat dock on Marshland Road (off Route 434 in Apalachin), board the center's pontoon boat, and tour along the Susquehanna River. Following the river tour, will be a tour of Hiawatha Island. Reservations are required. Cost is $5 for members, $7.50 for non-members.
Discovery Hikes
May 30, Saturday, 2pm
Naturalist Douglas Weeks will lead a tour of discovery along the Waterman trails. Observe colorful spring birds, wildflowers, and more. Free for members, $2 non-members.

Hiawatha Island and Susquehanna River Tours

Waterman is taking reservations for island and river tours which start in May and run through September. Explore the cultural, historical, and ecological aspects of this wildlife refuge. Contact the center for details on the scheduled tours, or for a special group tour such as birthday parties, school groups, scout groups, or family reunions.
