Bring in Spring with The Dairy Princess

What's New with "Got Milk?"
by Stacy Brink, Tioga County Dairy Princess

How about those "Got milk?" commercials lately? Notice anything different? This is the Tioga County Dairy Princess Stacy Brink here to tell you don't adjust those television sets, the commercials are in black and white. But don't be fooled by the color change. The theme still remains the same - milk deprivation. And so the need for milk continues in a town called "Drysville."

The current campaign for "Got Milk?" was doing extremely well with a national awareness rating of eighty percent, but a change was needed to keep the campaign fresh and exciting for consumers. The recent "Got Milk?" ads do just that, but in an interesting and appealing new way.

Each cleverly produced commercial must be seen more than once to grasp the many deprivation innuendos throughout the commercials. In one spot, "Drysville Cafe," a radio in the background announces that the local doughnut company has filed Chapter 11. In another spot, "Ballad," a schoolboy hands money to another boy who opens his locker to reveal a centerfold picture of a gallon of milk.

The first ad, "Ballad," began running in January with three others, "Drysville Cafe," "Letter," (check!), and "Patrol Car" following in February.

So grab some cookies and watch out for these commercials, but don't you get caught without your milk!
