CellularONE Fundraiser

Month of April

Throughout April, the Owego office of CellularONE (located on Fifth Avenue) will donate $25 to Waterman Center for every phone sold.

Waterman Discovery Hikes

April 11, 18, 25, Saturdays, 2pm

Naturalist Douglas Weeks leads a hike along the trails. Look for the colorful spring birds, wildflowers, and more. Members free, non-members $2.

Little People/Big People

April 7, 14, 21, 28, Tuesdays or

April 8, 15, 22, 29, Wednesdays,

10:30-11:30am

Preschoolers and adults are invited to join Naturalist Eileen Shatara for a fun-filled exploration of nature. Preregistration is required. Members $12, non-members $16.

Backyard Habitat Design

April 9, 16, 23, Thursdays, 7-9pm

During this three-part course, Naturalist Douglas Weeks will help participants design their own backyard sanctuary. Preregistration is required. Members $20, non-members $25.

March for Parks Walk-a-Thon

April 18 & 19, Sat & Sun, All Day

The National Parks and Conservation Association is holding the 8th annual March for Parks to raise awareness and funds for America's national, state, and local public parks and public land. On April 18 and 19, Waterman trails are open for all March for Parks hikers. All funds raised will be used for projects on one of our refuges.




NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK


April 19-25

Waterman Center Trail Days

April 19, Sunday, 10am-3pm

Cookout at 12:30pm

Join the crew of volunteers to work on the existing trail system, repair bridges, and plant a wildflower meadow. These activities will take place at Waterman's four wildlife refuge sites: Waterman Center, Apalachin Marsh, Brick Pond in Owego, and Hiawatha Island. Call the center for a listing of tools and equipment needed and to register for a site.

Volunteer Recognition Dinner

April 19, Sunday, 5pm

All Waterman volunteers are invited to attend this pot luck dinner. Call Eileen Shatara for more information.

Volunteer Naturalist Meeting

April 28, Tuesday, 9-10am

On the agenda are plans for May and a short preview of summer programs and events. If you are interested in joining the volunteers, call the center.
