Trade & Business Show '98

March 25, Wednesday, 3:30 - 7pm

There will be exhibits, refreshments, door prizes, and more. Businesses and organizations from throughout Tioga County and surrounding areas will display their products and services. Admission is free to the public and everyone is welcome to attend.

New Members

The chamber welcomes the following new members: Hand Z Man General Contracting, Owego; John M. Spaulding, Independent Trucking Contractor, Owego; Stark Essentials, Nichols; Shirley M. Wiggins, Mail Contractor, Owego; and Windy Lane Tree Farm, Owego.

Chamber membership is open to businesses, organizations, and individuals. Membership benefits include group health insurance and dental insurance for businesses and organizations, leadershipo opportunities, serving on committees and business referrals to members.

Chamber Co-Sponsors Seminar on Clean Air Act

The Business Council of New York State will hold "Accidental Release Prevention" seminars in several nearby locations. The Tioga County Chamber of Commerce is one of the co-sponsors. Sessions will be held in Rochester on February 25 and Syracuse on February 26, 1998. There is a charge.

Through the clean Air Act Amendments of 1990, Congress mandated that the EPA develop regulations to address accidental releases of hazardous substances into the atmosphere. EPA was required to develop a list of hazardous substances and implement a prevention, detection and response plan for designated industrial processes.

The seminar will address the legal aspets of compliance, including statutory and regulatory requirements and enforcement issues, as well as the practical aspects of compliance including strategies for developing risk assessment and release prevention programs.
