Government Funding For Homeowners

The Town of Owego is currently considering making an application to the federal government for home repair funds. However, in order to receive any funding, the Town of Owego must prepare and submit an application. The Town must show that there is a sufficient level of need and must demonstrate that there is substantial interest shown by Town residents. Therefore, the Town has asked the Housing Department of Tioga Opportunities to conduct a telephone survey (you must call) during the next few weeks to assess the interest and the level of need for a home repair program.

To date this program has provided home repair assistance to over 330 low and moderate income homeowners in various towns in Tioga County by repairing, replacing or installing items such as wells, septic systems, heating systems, plumbing systems, electrical systems, roofs and foundations.

If you are a homeowner and resident of the Town of Owego (outside the Village of Owego) and would like to participate in this survey or would like additional information you should call TOP at 687-0707 by February 16, 1998.
