Traffic Safety Vehicle Check
The Village of Owego Police Department in cooperation with the New York
State Police Troop C Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit and Troop C Uniform
Staff at Owego conducted the annual National Lifesaver Weekend Holiday
Traffic Safety Vehicle check point on December 19, 1997, from 11:00 am
to 1:00 pm at the south end of the Court Street Bridge (intersection of
Routes 96 and 434) in the Village of Owego. The purpose of the check was
to promote safe driving during the holiday season and beyond.
A total of 49 traffic tickets were issued and numerous warnings were
given to motorists. Tickets issued included 37 for no seat belts and 7
for no inspection tickets.
