Browns Note 50th Wedding Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Frederick J. Brown, Sr. in 1948.

Mr. and Mrs. Frederick J. Brown, Sr., Apalachin, celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this month.

They were married on January 10, 1948, in Sacred Heart Church in Luzerne, Pennsylvania, by Rev. Joseph Meier. Attendants were Catherine Brown and Richard Youngblood. Ushers were Eugene Brown and Thomas Youngblood.

Mr. Brown, son of the late Oscar and Catherine Halter Brown, graduated from St. Nicholas High School, Wilkes-Barre, and Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. He served three years in the infantry during World War II and is retired from IBM.

Mrs. Brown is the former Mary Youngblood, daughter of the late William and Mary Kielty Youngblood. She graduated from Kingston High School, Kingston, Pennsylvania, and before her marriage was employed at the Wilkes-Barre Lace Manufacturing Company, Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

The couple has three children: Frederick J. Brown, Jr., Apalachin; Mary Lou Knapp, St. Joseph, Pennsylvania; and Beverly Brown, Apalachin. The couple has six grandchildren: Frederick ("F.J."), Amanda, Robert, William, Kenith, and Catherine.
