Tribute to Princess of Wales

Editor's note: The following poem was sent to the "Apalachin Community Press" by one of our readers. The poem, which was written by the reader's niece, appeared in the Canadian newspaper "The Observer," and was put in the remembrance book which was sent to England.

Tribute to Lady Di

You appeared so young

right from the start

With bright blue eyes

and a giving heart.

There was probably hesitation

as you grew older

You stood up for others

you became a lot bolder.

Like a fairy tale princess

a shattered dream

The people felt your loss

never to be queen.

But there was one thing

that can't be undone

Was the gift you gave England

of two bright sons.

The world looked upon you

as a new-found saviour

Although the palace

shunned your behaviour.

You would hug and touch

without a white glove

With open honesty

you displayed your love.

Hats off to you, Queen of Hearts

our Lady Di.

Every tear that has fallen

to heaven shall fly.

Perhaps someday,

all shall come to know and see

All the good

you had done for humanity.

I finish this tribute

with this common phrase

That so many people have murmured these past few days.

To all songs that go unsung

Why do the good die young?
