Bears Galore Coming to "Christmas at the Inn"

"Christmas at the Inn '" is the theme for a large juried craft show that will be held on Sunday, October 19, at the Robert Packard Conference Room in the Guthrie Inn. The show will be held from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and parking and admission are free. This year the promoters are please to announce that some of the finest bear makers will be attending the show.

Harold and Rosemary Renninger from Towanda will be in attendance with their fireside bears. Harold makes the bases from wooden logs, and makes some of the props that go with the bears, then Rosemary builds the bears on the huge bases. Each bear is unique. All of the bears have a theme, and are dressed with that theme in mind. They also have many little props that go with their theme. Each bear is numbered and signed. Some of the bears are nature bears, wildlife, Christmas bears, school bears, bears on bikes, in wagons - they're a must to see.

Sylvia Hughson, will have her country bears made with wonderful country and homespun materials, along with her Santas, snowmen, and country dolls, and of course, Garth, Sylvia's husband's beautiful wooden shelves.

Doris Gordon from Troy with have her collectable bears. Doris also makes all of her bears herself, many of them jointed. Doris has a large selection of different wools and materials that will make any bear collector head spin. She personalizes all of her bears with little embellishments to make them one of a kind. Doris also will have her country dolls and Santas.

Kathie Goodwin, from East Smithfield, will also have bears on her display. If you are not into the country looking bears, Elaine Mattson, will be showing and selling her Victorian Bears. Elaine's bears are soft and cuddly, dressed in Victorian prints, with like hats to match, many earring props.

There will also be bears on wreaths, bear ornaments, wooden bears, miniature fimo bears, and tole painted bears. Of course, there will be many other Christmas and fall items to be seen and purchased, but for the bear lover, this show is for you. To make the day even more enjoyable, the Guthrie Inn is offering a brunch discount to all show attendees, reservations appreciated, and the Athens Rotary will be holding a raffle. All of the craftsmen donate one item to the raffle table. The winner receives all that is on the table.
