River/Island Tours

August, Fri, Sat, and Sunday

7am, Noon, and 6pm

A guided cruise aboard the Susque- hanna Shuttle. River tour - 7am & 6pm from the Marshland Road Riverfront Park, $7.50 members, $10 non-members. Three-hour river tour with a stop on Hiawatha Island - Noon, $9 members, $12 for non-members. Pre-registration is required. Additional tours can be arranged for groups.

Little People/Big People

August 7, 14, 21, 28, Thursdays

10:30am & 1:30pm

Three and four year olds may bring along a Big Person to enjoy this discovery program. Register for either the morning or afternoon session. $12 members, $16 non-members.

River Trail Cookout

August 9, Saturday

Meet the Waterman staff at Sam's Club for a cookout to raise money for the new Susquehanna River Trail Guide. All funds raised will be used to help produce this new and fun booklet. Call the center for more details.

Exploring Ecosystems

August 11 - 15, 9:30am-3pm

During this week of summer camp, the 5-12 year olds will learn about different ecosystems from around the world. Reservations required. $75 members, $85 non-members.

Waterman Day at Barnes & Noble

August 16, Saturday, 9am-9pm

Visit Barnes & Noble Bookstore for a special treat. Throughout the day, Waterman staff and volunteers will tell stories and more. All purchases on this day will result in a donation to the center.

Weekend Little & Big People

August 16, Saturday, 10:30-Noon

A Saturday session of the popular discovery program for three and four year olds. Reservations required. $5 members, $8 non-members



Beavers of Brick Pond

August 17, Sunday, 2pm

Naturalist Eileen Shatara will lead visitors on a tour of discovery in this very special wetland. Located in Owego, this wetland is home to many special animals. Reservations requested. Free for members, $2 non-members.

Wildlife Conservation

August 18-22, Mon-Fri, 9:30am-3pm

During this session of summer day camp, the children will learn about being a wildlife refuge manager. For 5-12 year olds, $75 members, $85 non-members.

Return of Arachniphobia

August 23, Saturday, 1pm

Tarantulas, house spiders, and lots of other special guests will be on hand to entertain and educate you. Free for members, $2 for non-members.

Family Nature Hike

August 24, Sunday, 2pm

Bring your family out for a trek through the woods and meadows and explore the wonders of Waterman Center that few people ever see. Reservations suggested. Free for members, $2 non-members.

Wet -N- Wild

August 25-29, Mon-Fri, 9:30am-3pm

The final week of summer day camp. The children will explore life in creeks, swamps, and rivers. Prepare to get wet! Reservations required. $75 members, $85 non-members.

Brick Pond Behind the Scenes

August 31, Sunday, 2pm

Naturalist Eileen Shatara will lead a special tour of this special wetland. Brick Pond is home to many unique species and needs to be carefully managed. Reservations required. Free for members, $2 non-members.

Walk Through Time

September 6, Saturday, 10am-4pm

An encore production of a look at local history. Tours leave from the Marshland Road site and travel back in time to Historic Hiawatha Island. Reservations are suggested. $7.50 members, $10 non-members.
